Sony can be pleased with this launch title, and soulslike players taysentoto can rub their hands in glee for a great opening of the new generation. The physicality of Demon’s Souls – something just as important to From’s series as its lore-soaked architecture and the pervading sense of dread beauty – has never felt quite so explicit. World Tendency can also achieve a pure white or pure black tendency that can unlock new enemies or areas in the game. While the developers have not disclosed specific details about this update, Digital Foundry had an opportunity to evaluate it. The internal resolution has not yet been confirmed, but with the update released, it may only be a matter of days before official details are announced. After taking the first elevator, players will find a Fat Official guarding a balcony.
It will take a little time to reach the location because players will need to complete the first location of the game before other Archstones become available. Unlike the Dark Souls series, which is fully developed by From Software and published by Bandai Namco, Demon’s Souls was a collaboration between From Software and Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Studio. Sony, presumably, owns the intellectual property, and until very recently, hasn’t released any of its games on PC. Folks do love a good easter egg and it seems that Bluepoint has added one to their Demon’s Souls remake. Players quickly noticed a new, mysterious door that wasn’t in the original game. Through some photo mode trickery they’ve discovered there’s an item inside but unlocking it is still a mystery.
At the time of writing, it is not yet known how else to get this and you need all Rings for a trophy (only confirmed as a starting boon so far). The easiest starting class for newcomers is “Royalty” which is the one that starts with highest magic stats, but for trophy purposes it doesn’t matter what class you play. While these overhauls are impressive, it’s important to recognize that most of the game’s code has gone unchanged.
The storyline of Demon’s Souls Remake takes place in a land called Boletaria; Land of wizards, kings, knights and thieves. The demons are the rulers of the land, and there are only a limited number of skilled warriors who survive and fight for the souls of the dead. The original PS3 version released in 2009 and was generally well received, but FromSoftware’s mainstream popularity only truly began after the first Dark Souls took the internet by storm. Because of this, Demon’s Souls seems to be one of the most forgotten entries in the studio’s catalog, since players skipped it in favor of its more polished younger brother.

Once you get past the dead animal with crows over it, you can see on your left another barricade, that hides two Dreglings. On the right side, you will find another Dregling and beneath the giant door there are two more. Another Dregling will come out of a wooden barricade, located left to the giant door. On the other side of the door, there is also a Dregling, but it will remain hidden until you get much closer. On your left there is a locked door that will only open if you achieve Pure White or Pure Black World Tendency.
What makes Sony’s slip-up more perplexing is that, as recently as August 2020, the company expressed interest in more PC ports of its console exclusives. “We will explore expanding our 1st party titles to the PC platform in order to promote further growth in our profitability,” Sony’s 2020 corporate report states. When asked if Demon’s Souls would ever release on PC, Sony declined to elaborate further. It seems like Sony may be keeping the door open to a PC version, but wants everyone to be excited about its new console right now. Even if there really are zero PC plans right now, that could always change.
